The bioclimate of Baile 1 Mai is sedative, with winters not very harsh and summers without excessive heat. Low precipitations and moderate winds make the beautiful and unique thermal lakes, geothermal water pools, historical buildings and extensive deciduous forests just ideal to be explored in any season.

Water lilies lake

Nature reserve that houses three protected species: Nymphaea Lotus Thermalis, Roșioara lui Racoviță fish, as well as the Melanopsis Parreyssi snail.

Wave Pool

Opened in 1896, it is the oldest installation of its kind in Europe. Its engine was built by Austrian engineers and when the bell starts to sound, it generates waves in a thermal water pool which has a temperature of 26 degrees.

Venus Pool Complex

Renovated in 2019, it has 14 pools filled with geothermal water of which 8 with a depth of 1.5 m, one with a depth of 2.5 m, one with 3.5 m depth with jumping platforms, respectively a children’s pool.

Haieu Chapel

It is an impressive church-hall of medieval origin dating from the 14th century, in which elements of Roman and Gothic architecture can still be observed today. It was restored in 1977.

Betfia Pothole

Ready for a journey to the Center of the Earth? The cave has a depth of 86 meters, is of limestone origin and was created by successive collapses and houses an impressive colony of bats.

Forest bike trail

The trail is in the forest near the localities of Băile 1 Mai and Betfia and reaches the paleontological reserve “Fosilifier Place on the Hill of Somleu” an integral part of the European ecological network “Natura 2000”.
